Application status

You can check the progress of your application in MyStudyLink.

Log in to MyStudyLink for updates on your application. If we need further information or supporting documents from you, select ‘Application Details’ in MyStudyLink for a list of what these are.

If you've recently sent us documents, your application status won't change until we've processed them, which usually takes up to 5 working days. This may take longer during our busier periods, eg, the start and end of the school year. You can also check in MyStudyLink if we've received your documents.

Application status and what it means

Status

What it means

Application submitted

We've received your Student Loan application. There's nothing you need to do at this stage.

We'll be in touch to let you know if we need any more information from you.

Incomplete

We've received your Student Loan application. We need some more information before we can send you a Student Loan contract.

Check 'Application Details' in MyStudyLink to find out what we need. This information will also be in the letter we've sent to you.

Contract has been sent

We've sent your Student Loan contract to you.

  • If you've chosen to receive your contract by mail (or if it's the first time you've applied), this can take up to 5 working days.
  • If you've chosen to get your mail online (because you've had a Student Loan before), you can accept your contract in MyStudyLink in the 'Student Loan contract' section.

Contract has been returned

We've received your Student Loan contract from you.

If we need any more information from you, this will be in the 'Application Details’ section in MyStudyLink. This information will also be in the letter we've sent to you.

Confirming study details

We'll confirm your study details with your education provider. We can't do this until at least 6 weeks before your study start date.

They will confirm:

  • what you're studying
  • whether you're full-time or part-time
  • how much your fees are (if you've chosen to have your fees paid by the Student Loan).

If you've fully completed your enrolment with your education provider, there's nothing further you need to do at this stage.

Study confirmed, waiting final processing

Your education provider has confirmed your study details and we're doing the final checks on your loan. This includes confirming if you're getting any payments from Work and Income. There's nothing further you need to do at this stage.

We can't make any payments during this time, but you can still apply for course-related costs and nominate living costs in MyStudyLink. Once these checks are finished, we'll let you know what happens next.

Approved

Your Student Loan application has been approved. You'll get a letter confirming this.

If you've:

  • chosen to have your fees paid by the Student Loan, we'll make this payment directly to your education provider.
  • applied for course-related costs, this could take about 3 working days to process and pay you.
  • applied for living costs, when you get paid depends on when you nominate them - Living Costs
Declined

Your Student Loan application has been declined. We've sent you a letter to let you know why.

If you think we haven't got something quite right or your want to understand our decision, contact us.
