Change living costs

If you're studying full-time, you can change the amount you get for living costs, as part of your Student Loan, at any stage during your study.

Important information

When you change your living costs, your new payment will start a week later, as we pay you a week in arrears.

What you need to do

You can change your living costs online, in MyStudyLink under 'Loan Living Costs'.

The maximum you can get is $323.43 a week but you don't have to borrow the full amount. Living costs is part of your Student Loan, so you'll have to pay it back.

Effect on payments

If you get a Student Allowance, your living costs is automatically reduced by the amount of Student Allowance you get.

Example

You're getting weekly living costs payments of $323.43. If you get $200 a week for a Student Allowance, you'll only be able to get $123.43 for living costs.
