Change your bank account

You need to tell us straight away if you've changed your bank account so your payments go into the right account.

Important information

Don't close your old account until you’ve received a payment into your new one.

Getting Student Loan, Student Allowance or a scholarship

You can change your bank account online, in MyStudyLink in the 'Personal details' section.

Getting any other payment

If you're getting another payment (eg, Jobseeker Support Student Hardship, Disability Allowance or Income Relief Payment), you need to:

  • fill out a change in circumstances form
  • provide evidence of your new bank account
  • log in to Connect and upload your form and evidence.
Change of circumstances form (PDF 724.39KB)

Getting Student Loan, Student Allowance or a scholarship

If you update your bank account using MyStudyLink, it will be updated straight away. If you:

  • don't get paid tomorrow, your next payment will go into your new account.
  • get paid tomorrow, your next payment will go into your new account next week.

If you give us evidence of your new bank account, your payments will go into your new account once it's been processed.

Getting any other payment

If you're getting another payment (eg, Jobseeker Support Student Hardship, Disability Allowance or Income Relief Payment), we'll process your evidence once we receive it. Your payments will go into your new account once it's been processed.

If your payments go into a closed account, the bank will need to return the money to us which could take a few days.

Once they've returned the money, it will take a few more days for us to pay it into your new account.

Getting Student Loan, Student Allowance or a scholarship

If you use someone else's account, you can do this without telling us but we take no responsibility for any payments you don't get.

Getting any other payment

If you're getting another payment (eg, Jobseeker Support Student Hardship, Disability Allowance), and you want to use someone else's account, you'll need to appoint them as your agent.
